Thanks again all. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about this.
Being in the IT industry, you'd think I'd be used to it... this is now the third time this has happened to me. Our company just merged with two others, and my whole department was eliminated.
I'm going to start looking for a new job right away, and hopefully all should pan out. I broke the news to my wife tonight, and she took it how I thought... but we know we'll get through it. Life has a way of working itself out.
In the meantime, looks like toy buying will have to taper off for a bit. I'll just customize what I got, and hopefully catch up when I can.
I would seriously like to do a career move and do something new. I was serious about the toy thing, but I don't have the entrepreneurial (sp?) knowledge to actually do it. Maybe I can just make some customs and sell them on ebay in the meantime for extra cash or something...
But bills are bills, and since I just bought a house last september and have a family to take care of, I'll probably end up working for "the man" again somewhere else... [img]smile.gif[/img]
And thanks for all the birthday wishes guys! It was pretty good, at least I tried to make the best of it. Got some Dremel goodies (the Dremel Drill Press, the flex hand tool and stand) and a kick ass West Coast Choppers shirt from the wife, and she made my favorite dinner and baked my favorite cake (chocolate chocolate chip bundt cake) - so that was cool!
